Madhukanta Sen
When I came to the US at twenty six, I had left everything back home. I was empty of all that I loved, whom I loved, but I held onto my art. I decided to do a Master’s in Fine Arts. And gradually, these strands which I held on to with all my might, gave rise to a body of work which became my pride, my all.
Sometimes, a hobby develops into a life-force. That is what happened with me.
My work is a potpourri of both the East and the West. To quote an art reviewer, “(she) maintains a perfect balance between colors and shapes ... (to) convey a calmness, a serenity that emanates from within” (Telegraph, Mar 11, 2003).
I love colors and use them to put impressions of my new found life to canvas. Anyone who loves unconventional ways of expressing conventional themes will enjoy my paintings.
