The black and the yellow skin tones are not isolated from the whites. They are Americans as
well.

The grey backdrop accentuates the courageous people and the hope in their hearts. The colors
in their psyche.
Cheerfulness, hopefulness, joy, are the emotions derived from the pinks and the blues and the
whites of this painting. We have overcome sorrow and arrived at these hopeful moments…
Valor, determination, all pervasiveness, are the qualities represented by Black. Green and black
are often associated with valiant knights and I derive confidence from the proximity of the color
black.
Dreams and beauty are made up of such colors. Water and moonlight, tranquility and peace.
This painting purports to transport you to realms imagined…
Better days are almost upon us. The festivities of winter have to remain in our minds. The
festive colors, red and green, have to be borne in our minds, always.

Things in the world happening riotously in the backdrop. Our thoughts supersede them in our minds, rushing by, recording impressions, feeling low, feeling high, but always rushing by. Thoughts give color to our very existence.
Today, even the happy are sad. So the title of my painting. As I started to paint the balloons, the paint would not hold and would drip. That is how I came upon the title. Today, even happiness is being looted, and being shoved into vaults. Everything is a commodity, to be looted and profits to be made from them. Let happy come back!
I was delighted to host Nils Hill and Ivy Dachman, who came for a studio visit. My studio is in a corner of our garage in our townhouse in Clifton.
A human being making a statement: this is me. That is the story this painting purports to convey. This is how I move, this is how I write… this is who I am!
The mind’s workings! It has its dark meanderings, as well as its sunshiny ones! A constant happening, we create, we live, based on the subtle and expressive workings of our mind!
Fire reaching out towards sunlight! Made of the same element, one yearning to make the other brighter...a dance of unison.
All bodies of fire, a lamp, a volcano...all telling the sunlight: I AM YOU!

The sprawl of the universe: the waters, the sunlight, the volcanoes, the dark forests...
An omniscient view by the overlord, the view of God.

This painting came after a pretty long gap. And after I had completed a series of four earlier ones consisting mainly of swirls on canvas. Those were my experiments with applying paint straight from the tube.
This painting came at a time when the people who were talking of draining the swamp had themselves turned the political arena into a rotting swamp. I was getting tired of following our leader's daily erroneous bantering.
Of Skies and Fences upholds the inherent error in planning to build walls to negate God's design. To negate all pervading unity, oneness prevailing in God's world.

My passion for art culminated in a Masters in Fine Arts from
Montclair State University. Having grown up in India, I focus on painting
abstract, balancing color and form, mixing eastern and western sensibilities. A lover
of colors, my work has received press coverage and been acquired by collectors in
India and has also been exhibited in the US.
